Q 1. Where did you get your first tattoo and do you
know by who?
A. At a friends house by Dennis Allison of Karma Tattoos in Modesto,
he was my first mentor to learn tattooing in 1990.
Q 2. What was going through your mind when you got your first tattoo?
A. This fuckin hurts really bad, I am glad I got my mom's permission
(I was only 16)
Q 3. Is there a meaning behind your first tattoo and what is it
if you care to share?
A. It was a Japanese style cat face made up of 9 cats. It means to not
compromise myself for another's beliefs. I have covered it with a back
piece, but I am going to tattoo it again myself somewhere else.
Q 4. What is your favorite tattoo, where is it and why?
A. mmmm. I dunno If I have a fave. I like them all. they all have
meaning. But I am especially fond of the ones I did on myself.
Q 5. What advice can you give people who are looking to get ink
for the first time?
A. Think before you ink. Take your time, you have a lifetime to think
about it.
Q 6. What is your inspiration behind your body art?
A. My family. Artoria Gibbons was a cousin of my father. She was
tattooed by Red Gibbons (My maiden name before I got married was
Gibbons) she was a famous tattooed lady from the circus of the 1920's.
Charles Gatewood has an article coming out about it in Skin & Ink
sometime in the future. Most of my family is tattooed.
Q 7. What would you say was your most memorable piece getting?
A. The first tattoo I did after years of not tattooing, on myself , It
is the bride of Frankenstein , I later added the Groom right before I
got married. My Wedding tattoo from Dave Brobrick is especially
meaningful.
Q 8. Do you believe that there could ever be to many tattoos on
one person?
A. It depends on the person.
Q 9. Who was your favorite artist that has tattooed you and who
was it? Plus what did they
do.
A. I have to say Artists: Dave Brobrick- My Padlock Wedding Tattoo and
traditional Rose, Karl Fischer -my chest piece ( I fell asleep!) Will
from Kari Barba's shop-my mom & dad Derringers, my gear wrist
piece and reworking of my matches, Matt @Precision in Oakland for the
Werewolf and Script.... And maybe myself-Bride & Groom
Frankenstein, Music Influences leg piece and Art Deco Door Piece on my
shins.
