BAW: What made you want to become a Tattoo Artist?

Artist: I never really thought about being one, this life has found me. I started as a piecer and just by watch and drawing a found a passion for the art, so it was a natural evolution for me to become a tattoo artist. I am just pretty lucky I guess. (in the right place at the right time)

BAW: Who are your influences?

Artist: Bill ward, Mark Ryden, Jime Litwalk, Gunnar, Clean Rock, comics. to many to really tell

BAW: What is your favorite style of work?

Artist: New school, I love really tweaked out images with big bright colors ......

BAW: Tell us about your first Tattoo experience?

Artist: It was on a friend, it was not so good..

BAW: What is your favorite piece you own?

Artist: My zombie on the inside of my arm, that was one of the coolest tattoos I have ever gotten, Done by Litwalk..... What a humble guy...very cool

BAW: What is your most memorable Tattoo given and why?

Artist: A set of zombish skulls that I did on a tattoo artist hands. For me doing somebody's hands is an honor!, but for a tattoo artist to have seen my work and liked it enough to find me to do his hands was a REAL big deal for me...it made me realize a few things, and definitely helped with my confidence...

BAW: Is there a part of the body you won't Tattoo and why?

Artist: That depends, I was taught that as a tattoo artist I (we) have a responsibility to my clients to look out for their best interest, so if they are not set in life, or not in this business. I 'm not gonna tattoo their hands or face!

BAW: Do you support supply co. that sells to the public?

Artist: No, I think that most people think that what we do is easy looking, so they buy cheap equipment and start to tattoo out of their house, which can lead to the spread of diseases( because they probably don’t own an autoclave or know anything about cross contamination) which in the long run will give this business a  bad name.....

BAW: Do you feel there now should be mandatory schooling for soon to be tattoo artists?

Artist: Yes and no, I think there should be course given by the health department on the aspect of  cleanliness, but I think that an old fashion apprenticeship! A school cant say when anyone's ready to be a tattoo artist,

BAW: Do you feel Tattooing has changed over the years, and if so why?

Artist: Of course it has, because the technology is better, and artists are just pushing one another to get better. If your not growing or moving forward in this business you start to regress......

BAW: Do you think it is important to do as many conventions and shows as possible?

Artist: I was told by one of my very serious influences that conventions are very good... you can learn a lot... and I still have a lot to learn and there are some many different influences and styles there, it cant be bad for you to emerged in that atmosphere....I want to know as much as I can....

BAW: What advise can you give to someone who is starting or

looking to get into the tattoo business?

Artist: DRAW, DRAW, DRAW, and then DRAW some more, and try not to take criticism to personally. Its generally not an attack.. use it and learn from it.......

BAW: What could you say to someone who has had a bad first experience?

Artist: Well, I would say for them to do their research! look at portfolios, ask questions. if you don’t feel comfortable with an artist DON’T GO TO THEM!!!! With all the recourse availed today there is no reason that should happen..

BAW: Since you have started what changes have you seen in the industry?

Artist: I think for me it’s the caliber of artists out there. the application has become incredible. if you look at what tattoos looked like 10 yrs ago and compare it to today's work... wow

BAW: How do you feel about apprenticeships?

Artist: I think that they are important. a school can not have ready to tattoo in 2 months!

BAW: Where do you think the Tattoo Industry is going today?  Do you think it is getting better or worse?

Artist: I thinks its head for great things! its definitely getting better, and its becoming very socially acceptable which is great to see........

BAW: Please share any other comments or views or questions to the public you might have.

Artist: Be careful who you go to. Just cause they have a machine or a couple of tattoos) doesn't mean they know how to tattoo....Life is short have fun. get lots of ink,.....ROYBOY rules...... Thanx Gillan
