Q1. Where did you get your first tattoo and do you
know by who?
A. On my chest. I don't know who did it but it was at Living
Canvas in Beaumont and I had it redone about a month later.
Q2. What was going through your mind when you got your first tattoo?
A. That it hurt a lot less than I expected and that I was tough to get
my first tat on my chest.
Q3. Is there a meaning behind your first tattoo and what is it if you
care to share?
A. Its a girly skull and crossbones with black roses. The
idea was that even though times were rough there is still always
beauty even if death is all around you.
Q4. What is your favorite tattoo, where is it and why?
A. Its still in progress. Im working on a half sleeve on
my left shoulder. Its a punk dia de los muertos guy holding a
heart being pierced by a cross. The background is a graveyard.
Eventually the top will be a sky/heaven scene. Its in memory of
my best friend who died way before his time.
Q5. What advice can you give people who are looking to get ink for the
first time?
A. Think a lot about it. Try and remember how obsessed you
were with a band five years ago that you wouldn't even admit to liking
now. Try to make your ink personally important. And of course
look for a good artist and clean environment.
Q6. What is your inspiration behind your body art?
A. I like Mexican Folk Art but my inspiration comes from what my
life has been and what I want it to be.
Q7. What would you say was your most memorable piece getting?
A. My left shoulder piece.
Q8. Do you have any new ideas for any more work lined up?
A. OH always. I just started this year. I have ideas
for never ending tattoos. I want a whole day of the dead dancing
scene. Girls Baseball League tribute tat. Mano Poderosa.
Q9. Who was your favorite artist that has tattooed you? Plus what did
they do.
A. I have a couple of crappy tattoos already. The only
person I trust is Chris Bernett at Art Junkies in Hesperia.
Q10. Do you like staying with one artist or do you like trying to go
to new artist each time?
A. Since Im pretty new and haven't been to happy with anyone else I
will probably have him do me til I die.
Q11. Do you believe tattoos are addictive? Why do you like getting
tattooed?
A. Yes I do. Well, I have an addictive personality. I quit
drinking 7 months ago and started getting tattooed. Tattoos are
the socially acceptable cutting. its a beautiful way to express
every emotion. Without pain their is no pleasure.
Q12. When would you say you like getting tattooed the most is it at a
certain time in your life or when you get that itch to get one done.
A. I typically get that itch to get tattooed when something
significant happens in my life.
Q13. Any additional comments?
A. Tattoos have become a major outlet for me. They help with my
sanity. They help with my creativity. They help with my
sobriety.
